Can't say I loved it but didn't miss all the air travel burrs that you covered.

On a different note, I walked through the car in the early morning hours and felt like I was walking through the men's sleeping room at Hesed House. You don't see much scenery going east from Chicago to Buffalo as it's overnight and when it is daytime, it's through mostly run down or garbage littered areas. The defining moment was during the several hours wait in a lonesome terminal after the train broke down. We had to wait for another train to bring in the parts and the terminal was freezing with the air conditioner on full blast. The attendant wouldn't touch the thermostat despite my begging as his boss told him never to touch it. I worked as a mechanic for the Chessie System Railroad so this comment is not entirely one dimensional. They don't hire the best and brightest and I'm guessing those types don't even apply. I'm sure the airlines are sinking toward that level but at this time, they are still far from it. It also helps when your spouse has lifetime gold level status with American and you can get into the fast lanes with no baggage fees.TRAKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13390438153153669598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19395061.post-81106929117208502492010-11-24T20:34:52.716-06:002010-11-24T20:34:52.716-06:00I'm with you Marcia. Apparently Amtrak is getting record bookings for the holiday season and is converting old cafeteria cars to coaches, etc., to meet the demand. More power to them! If airline bookings fall off, the TSA may have to relent. And maybe, just maybe, Amtrak will get a boost in funding. I think Amtrak would be quite successful if they lowered the prices enough to beat airline flights.A "Freakin' Angel"https://www.blogger.com/profile/01946775880104156087noreply@blogger.com
